The B·Bar·B
Ranch program is the result of twenty-five
years of breeding good horses to good horses. We have
chosen not to spend tremendous amounts of money on promoting our mares and
ranch raised stallion, Mr Peppy H Chex, in the show ring. Instead, we have
based our breeding program on the proven results of a few good mares and
three outstanding stallions. By following this philosophy and by running our
mares and foals on high country desert and limited irrigation pastures, we
have been able to pass on to the horse industry, good, sound, intelligent,
well bred colts in a very reasonable priced market range.
All our prospects are
by Mr Peppy H Chex. Both Bubbling Doc Bar and Booger H Chex have gone ahead
of us to the big Horse Pasture In the Sky—two horses that made the B Bar B
Ranch horse program what it is today.
Annies Move - (1984-2004) This great little mare’s dam
was a present to Katie from her "papa in the horse world" Ray Chugg—one of
the best horse breeders in the Northwest during his era. Annie is the mother
of several of the roping horses entered in the events on sale day. Her off
spring are strong in calf roping and speed events - barrels and poles- as
well as snaffle bit cow horse events.
Miss Poco Kay Dell (1978 - 1997) was purchased by
Katie from Dr. Lyle and Kathy Wonderlich DVM when Lyle was doing the A.I.
vet work for Katie during the early 80’s. She is a granddaughter of King and
Poco Dell. All her colts are solid nice minded mares and geldings loaded
with cow. These colts have done extremely well in snaffle bit cow horse
classes, team ropings and ranch work.
Peppers Topper (1980 - 1994) was purchased by Katie
for Hanley Dawson in 1985. She was a very physical mare with tremendous
moves and intensity. Hanley bred her twice—to Peppy San Badger (Little
Peppy) and Colonal Freckles. Katie purchased the two fillies from this cross
and Peppers Topper from Mr. Dawson in 1988. "Pepper" died during a Bill
Freeman clinic at the ranch of colic. She was one awesome mare. Ms Toppers
Pepper (1988 - 1997) was the cross on Peppers Topper with Little Peppy who
died during foaling but the ranch has several of her great fillies in the
program.
Robyn’s Light (1968 - 1989) was purchased by Katie
from Donnie McFadden of Billingsley Creek Ranch in 1981. She had earned her
ROM in Barrels and Poles and was rated AA with a speed index of 80 on the
race track. Her was a granddaughter of Tinky Poo and Lightning Bar. This
mare crossed very well on both Bubbling Doc Bar and Booger H Chex and
produced several good fillies that are still a major part of the ranch
breeding program today.
Bugaboo Rosie (1982 - ) has been a great producer for
the ranch. She was one of the four fillies from Bubbling Doc Bar’s first
foal crops. She is a granddaughter of Early Tink and Popular Wind TB. Her
colts have speed and tremendous heart. She is one of our favorite mares.
Miss Blue Angel (1970 - 1992) was purchased by Katie
from Dan Manning in 1981. This grand mare was the producer of many ROM
horses in performance, halter and racing divisions of the AQHA.
Her off spring are loaded with intelligence, common sense and lots of cow.
The world would be a great place if everyone would have the attitude of this
great mare. She was a daughter of Missle Step and a granddaughter of Tinky
Poo—great foundation working cow horses.
Butterfly Bars (1977 - 1993) was purchased from Calyso Quarter Horses
(Bruce and Jan Armstrong) by Katie in 1986. She brought a whole different
breeding to the B Bar B Ranch program; she was a big, soggy, halter type
mare with a very gentle disposition. All of her off spring have that
personality only the cow has been added and the combination is outstanding.
Anyone can ride and work with these colts—they are very kind and trainable.
